Abel Babayan: "Dangerous Game"
In February 2024, a group of 11th graders embarked on a
project of Individual Reading. By encouraging to explore a variety of literary
genres and authors, the
reading project promotes exploration of literature to enhance critical
thinking and foster love for reading. Chess player Abel Babayan was the first
to analyze a ghost story "Dangerous Game" by L.G. Alexander. The
connection between the ghost story and the games of chess illustrated in the
book lies in the psychological dynamics at play. Chess is often used as a
metaphor for strategic thinking, manipulation, and the battle of wits. Similarly,
the presence of the ghost adds an element of the supernatural and the unknown
to the story. Enjoy reading Abel’s coverage on his blog post 1 and blog post 2.
